Fourteen Brands of Bottled Water Recalled for Possible E. coli

Niagara Bottling has issued a voluntary recall of spring water produced at its Pennsylvania plants from June 10 through June 18, 2015 because the water source has been contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The recall is “out of an abundance of caution”, since there are no signs the finished product itself has been contaminated. Production has been halted and bottling lines have been disinfected.

RecallThe recall is only for spring water produced in the Pennsylvania facilities. It does not affect purified water or any spring water not produced in Pennsylvania or outside the 6/10/15 – 6/1815 time frame.

The brands included in this recall are mostly store and generic brands, including: Acadia Spring Water, Acme Spring Water, Big Y Spring Water, Best Yet Spring Water, 7-11 Spring Water, Niagara Spring Water, Nature’s Place Spring Water, Pricerite Spring Water, Superchill Spring Water, Morning Fresh Spring Water, Shaws Spring Water, Shoprite Spring Water, Western Beef Blue Spring Water, and Wegmans Spring Water.

The Best By codes on the outer shrink film or bottle for the recalled products are in the range of F# BEST BY 08DEC2016 to F# BEST BY 16DEC2016. Or the codes are A# BEST BY 08 DEC 2016 to A# BEST BY 16DE 2016. “F” stands for the Hamburg plant and line number, and “A” is for the Allentown plant and line number.

For the Wegmans brand only, these are the codes: A3 BEST BY 10JUN2016, A3 BEST BY 11JUN2016, A3 BEST BY 12JUN2016, A3 BEST BY 13JUN2016, A1 BEST BY 13JUN2016, A3 BEST BY 15JUN2016, A3 BEST BY 16JUN2016, and A4 BEST BY 16JUN2016.

If you purchased any of these products, do not consume them. Return to the place of purchase for a refund. The operator at one of the company’s contracted springs did not notify Niagara Bottling that there was evidence of E. coli bacteria at the spring source.
