Gilmore Fish Recalls Canned Seafood for Possible Botulism Toxin

Gilmore Fish is recalling all canned seafood with any codes starting with “OC” because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. This is another secondary recall of canned seafood made by Skipanon. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

All of the products were sold from the company’s retail store in Dallesport, Washington. The last date of distribution was in September, 2015. The recalled products are Gourmet Smoked Columbia Sturgeon in 5 ounce metal cans, Smoked Wine Maple Salmon in 5 ounce cans, and Smoked Chinook Salmon in 7 ounce cans. There are no UPC numbers on these products.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase or throw them away in a sealed container so other people and animals can’t eat them.

The symptoms of botulism food poisoning include general weakness, double vision, dizziness, and trouble with speaking and swallowing. This type of food poisoning can cause death with just a very small amount of the toxin. The toxin does not change the flavor, taste, or appearance of the food. If you have experienced any of these symptoms, see your doctor immediately.
