Good ‘N’ Fun Dog Treats Recalled for Salmonella

Salix Animal Health has voluntarily recalled one lot of “Good ‘n’ Fun – Beefhide Chicken Sticks” pet treats because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Salmonella can affect both pets eating the product and people handling it, especially children. No pet or human illnesses from use of this product have been reported to date.

Good n Fun Pet Treat Salmonella RecallThe recalled product was distributed nationwide by Salix Animal Health to Dollar General and Dollar Tree retail stores. It is packaged in a 2.8 ounce bag stamped on the back with lot # AO15010 and an expiration date of 03/2018. The UPC number isĀ 0 91093 82247 1.

In pets, those with Salmonella infection can be lethargic, with diarrhea that may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Some pets can be carriers of the bacteria with no symptoms at all, but touching them can make people sick. If your pet experiences these symptoms, see your veterinarian.

In people, symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that may be bloody, abdominal cramps, fever, chills, and muscle aches. If you have this product in your home and have experienced these symptoms, see your doctor.

If you purchased this product, discard it in a sealed container so other animals can’t eat it, or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product.
