In Canada, The Soup Boy Recalling Carrot Soup for Botulism

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and The Soup Boy are recalling Carrot Soup made by that company because it may permit the growth of the dangerous bacteria Clostridium botulinum. No illnesses have been reported to date, although the recall was triggered by a consumer complaint.

The recalled product is The Soup Boy Carrot Soup in one liter containers. The product is not labeled and there is no UPC number. It was sold in New Brunswick.

Clostridium botulinum bacteria produce spores that are not easily destroyed. When low-acid foods are improperly canned, it produces the ideal environment for the spores to grow and produce a deadly toxin. Toxin smaller than a grain of sand can kill a person.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
