In Cananda, Inverloch Cheddar Recalled for Listeria

In Canada, Glen Echo Fine Foods is recalling Inverloch Cheddar Cheese imported from Scotland for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as Listeria can cause serious illness.

Recall SignSymptoms of a Listeria infection include stiff neck, fever, muscle weakness and gastrointestinal symptoms. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

The recalled products are Isle of Kintyre brand Laird’s Mustard Mature Cheddar & Whole Grain Mustard sold in 1 kilogram packages with product code 10-03-16 and UPC 5 060020 410338. Also recalled is Isle of Kintyre Applesmoke Mature Cheddar sold in 900 gram packages with product code 3-03-16 and UPC 5 060020 410260.

At the time of the recall there had been no reports of illness. If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria.
