Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Dog Food Recalled for Salmonella

Nature’s Variety is recalling Instinct Raw Chicken Formula frozen dog food for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Instinct Raw Dog Food Salmonella RecallThe recalled products are Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs in 4 pound packages with UPC number 769949611431 and best by 4/27/16; Instinct Raw Chicken Formula Bites for Dogs in 7 pound packages with UPC number 769949611448 and best by 4/27/16; and Instinct Rw Chicken Formula Patties for Dogs in 6 pound packages with best by 4/27/16. These products were distributed through retail stores in the U.S. and limited distribution in Canada.

Dogs sickened with Salmonella could  be lethargic and have diarrhea that may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Some pets could only have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Some pets can seem healthy but be carriers of the bacteria and can sicken other animals and people. If your dog displays these symptoms, take him to your vet. People with Salmonella infections suffer from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that may be bloody, abdominal cramps, and fever. If you have experienced these symptoms and have used this product, see your doctor.

If you have this product, do not handle it and do not feed it to your dog. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling this product. Return to the place of purchase or bring proof of purchase to your retailer for a full refund.
