Mama Lina’s Empanadas Recalled for Lack of Inspection

empanadas-recallMama Lina’s Inc. of San Diego is recalling approximately 1,754 pounds of beef and chicken empanadas because they were produced without the benefit of federal inspection. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them.

The recalled beef, chicken, sweet wine beef and chipotle chicken empanada items were produced on August 31, 2015 and September 29, 2015 and packaged in cases of varying weights with the establishment number “EST. 2012” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to a retail location San Diego, CA.

The problem was discovered during routine inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. At the time of the recall, there had been no confirmed reports of illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the consumption of these products.
