Mama Mancini’s Meatballs Recalled for Undeclared Gluten

Joseph Epstein Food Enterprises is recalling 190 pounds of turkey meatballs because they are labeled “gluten-free”, but they contain gluten. Anyone who is allergic to gluten or who has celiac disease could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is 22-ounce cartons of “Mama Mancini’s Slow Cooked Italian Style Sauce and Turkey Meatballs – Gluten Free.” They were produced on October 19, 2015. The product has the establishment number “P-21734” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The product code is 4740 and the expiration date is “Use by 12/10/15.” These meatballs were shipped to retail locations in New Jersey. The meatballs have more than the maximum allowable 20 ppm of gluten.

If you purchased this product and cannot eat gluten, do not eat it. Throw it away or return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.
