Northwest Wild Recalls Canned Seafood for Botulism

Northwest Wild Products of Oregon is voluntarily recalling all canned seafood with any codes starting with “OC” because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulism bacteria. The toxins produced by this bacteria can cause life-threatening illness. No illnesses have been reported to date. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site.

The recalled products are all sold in 6.5 ounce cans with no UPC number. They include Pacific Black Cod, Wild Columbia River Coho Salmon – Custom Smoked, Wild Columbia River Coho Salmon, Columbia River Chinook Salmon – Custom Smoked, Columbia River Chinook Salmon, Wild Steelhead Salmon – Custom Smoked, and Wild Steelhead Salmon.

Northwest Wild Sardines Botulism Recall

Also recalled are Oregon Sardines – Mustard, Oregon Sardines – Spicy Tomato, Wild Columbia River Sturgeon – Custom Smoked, Pacific White Albacore Tuna – Custom Smoked, Wild Northwest Razor Clams – Custom Smoked, and Wild Northwest Razor Clams. These products were made by Skipanon Brand Seafoods LLC and may have  been under processed. This is a secondary recall.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Destroy them or discard in a sealed container or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. They were sold in Oregon from the company’s retail store and through mail order. The last date of distribution was September 2015.
