Oysters in Canada Recalled for Salmonella

Future Seafoods and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) are recalling oysters from the marketplace because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Raw OystersThe recalled items are Future Seafoods, Inc. brand oysters, sold in various sizes. There is no UPC number on the recalled product. The Harvest/Process date is 09/08/15 and the Harvest Area is PE9B. The oysters were sold in Quebec at the retail level.

If you purchased these oysters, do not eat them. If you aren’t sure if you did purchase them, call your retailer and ask. This recall was triggered by CFIA inspections.

Food that is contaminated with Salmonella bacteria will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection usually appear six to seventy-two hours after exposure, and include diarrhea that may be bloody, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fever, chills, and headache.
