Pork Shoulder Recalled for Lack of Import Inspection

pork-shoulder-recallMaple Leaf Food Inc. of Manitoba is recalling approximately 4,030 pounds of boneless pork shoulder products that were not inspected at the border. The Boneless Pork Shoulder Boston Butt items were distributed to retail stores in California.

The recalled items were imported on Oct. 31, 2015. They were packed in 62-pound cartons marked “Pork Shoulder Blade Boneless ¼” COV 2X4″ with the establishment number  “007” inside the Canadian mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered November 3, 2015 during routine monitoring activities by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS). USDA monitors all foods imported into the country.

At the time of the recall there had been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions in association with consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
