President’s Choice Moroccan Hummus Recalled for Staphylococcus

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling President’s Choice brand Moroccan-Style hummus because a toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria was found in the product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Presidents Choice Moroccan Hummus Staphylococcus RecallThe recalled product is President’s Choice Moroccan-Style Hummus in 280 gram containers. The code on the product is Best before: 2015 JN 14, and the UPC number is 0 60383 13387 0.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a closed or double bagged container so animals and other people can’t eat it, or return to the place of purchase for a refund.

The symptoms of illness from Staphylococcus toxin include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever. This toxin is not easily destroyed by cooking, so heating the product will not make it safe.
