Safeway in Canada Recalling Chicken Wings for Staphylococcus

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Safeway are recalling store packaged, cooked chicken wings because they may be contaminated with a toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria. The toxin produced by this bacteria is not destroyed at normal cooking temperatures. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled products are all Safeway brand name. All codes up to and including August 14, 2015 are recalled. The products were sold in variable sizes. Party Pack Chicken Wings Hot Salt N Pepper with UPC number that beings with 236500 are recalled, along with PPK Wings Mix flavors Hot with UPC number that begins with 256870. Pinty’s Wings Salt and Pepper Hot with UPC number that begins with 236542 are recalled, along with Pinty’s Wings Salt and Pepper Cold with UPC number that begins with 236523.

If you purchased these items, do not eat them, even if you reheat them. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place where you purchased them for a refund.
