Sandwich Recall for Listeria in Canada Updates

The recall of Gloria’s Oven Pride Kitchen, Quality Fast Foods and Lunch Box brands sandwiches in Canada for Listeria monocytogenes contamination has been updated with more product information. No illnesses have been reported to date, but the illness caused by this bacteria can take up to 70 days to appear.

The products include Lunch Box Ham, Turkey, & Swiss Cheese Multigrain Ciabatta Sandwich with Creamy Coleslaw; Gloria’s Ham & Cheese Sub and Our Super Loaded Sub, Quality Fast Foods Shaved Beef Dijon Mini Sub, and Pastrami Swiss Baguette Sub, among others. You can see pictures of all of the recalled product labels at the CFIA site.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard in a closed or double bagged container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Clean out your fridge with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria, since Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigerator temperatures.

If you ate any of these recalled products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
