Smoked Fish Recalled in Canada for Botulism Risk

The Healthy Butcher is recalling smoked fish from the marketplace in Canada because it may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, which produces a deadly toxin. No illnesses have been reported to date.

To see the long list of recalled products, along with package sizes, product codes, and UPC numbers, go to the CFIA web site. They are all The Healthy Butcher brand name. The recalled products include Smoked Fish – Wild Mackerel, House Smoked Fish – Pickerel, House Smoked White Sturgeon, Smoked Fish – White Fish, House Smoked Organic B.C. Chinook Salmon, Smoked Fish – Pickerel, Smoked Fish – Steelhead Trout, and Smoked Albino Rainbow Trout Variable. These products were sold in Ontario at The Healthy Butcher retail locations.

In addition, other products were recalled on July 18, 2015. They are Smoked Kolapore Rainbow Trout, and House Smoked Fish. You can see those product sizes, UPC numbers, and codes at the CFIA site.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
