Swimomish Fish Company Recalls Salmon Bacon for Possible Botulism

The Swimomish Fish Company is voluntarily recalling Native Catch Salmon Bacon because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. The product was distributed in Western Washington state and Florida. This bacterium can produce toxins that are potentially fatal. Do not use this product even if looks and smells normal. No illnesses or reaction have been reported to date.

The recalled products are Native Catch Salmon Bacon in Peppered flavor with UPC numberĀ 7 83583 27965 9. The product is sold in 8 ounce and 14 ounce clear vacuum bags with Best By codes 1/23/16 and 3/16/16. Also recalled is Native Catch Salmon Bacon in Traditional flavor with UPC numberĀ 7 51778 15900 0. It is also packaged in 8 ounce and 14 ounce clear vacuum bags with Best By codes 1/23/16 and 3/16/16. These products were shipped to the two states between the dates of August 10, 2015 through December 11, 2015.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged container or return it or the receipt to the place of purchase for a refund. Remember that only a tiny amount of botulism toxin, which is produced by the Clostridium botulinum spores under anaerobic conditions, can be fatal. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product.
