Tate’s Bake Shop Recalls Cookies for Undeclared Walnuts

Tate’s Bake Shop of New York is recalling two kinds of cookies because they may contain walnuts, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone who is allergic to walnuts, or tree nuts, and eats these products could have a serious or life-threatnieng allergic reaction. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are Tate’s 7 ounce Chocolate Chip Cookies with Best By date of March 20, 2016. Also recalled is Tate’s 7 ounce Gluten Free Ginger Zinger C0okies with Best By date of January 4, 2016. They were sold nationwide through retail stores. A product containing walnuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of walnuts.

If you purchased either of these products and are allergic to walnuts, do not eat them. Throw them away or return the cookies to the store where you bought them for a full refund. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site.
