Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 11.05.36 PMThe ground beef items were produced on May 16, 2015. They are 5-pound chubs of “80% Lean Ground Beef.” They have the establishment number “EST. 245C” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a “best before or freeze by” date of June 5, 2015. They were shipped to one distribution location in New York.

The problem was discovered during a routine sampling program. The government is concerned that some product was sold and stored in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it or cook with it. Discard in a closed or sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. If you ate this product and got sick with abdominal cramps, watery and/or bloody diarrhea, and a mild fever, see your doctor as soon as possible.

When you cook ground beef or any ground meat, always cook to 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. That is the only way to kill dangerous bacteria such as E. coli O157:H7.
