Vietnamese LP Cashews Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The Hemisphere Group of New York is recalling 14,000 pounds of Vietnamese LP Cashews because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The product is Vietnamese LP Cashew Kernels (shelled) in 50 pound bulk cartons. The packer is Hong Duc Company Limited. The FDA number on the carton is 16153193186, and the Hemisphere Code number is P95497. The recall was initiated as a result of routine sampling by the FDA. The company has ceased distribution of the product as an investigation continues.

The cashews were distributed to direct customers in Kalamazoo, Michigan; North Billerica, Massachusetts; Maspeth, New York; plus Quebec and Scarborough, Canada. The direct customers were instructed to notify their accounts and return the cashews to The Hemisphere Group.

If you purchased any of this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container, or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can see more photos of packing containers at the FDA site.
