Zatarain’s Red Beans and Rice Recalled for Undeclared Dairy

zatarain's-recallZatarain’s is recalling 8 oz boxes of Red Beans and Rice Original because it contains undeclared dairy. Consumers who have an allergy or sensitivity to dairy should not eat this product as it could cause a serious or life threatening reaction. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The recalled product has a “BEST BY” date of  JUL 31 16Z and the UPC7142909849. It was distributed in the Midwest and Eastern regions of the U.S. including the following states FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, ME, MI, MN, MS, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WI. No other Zatarain’s products are involved in this recall. All retail outlets that sell these products are being notified.

The Red Beans and Rice Original product may actually contain Creamy Parmesan Rice Mix with dairy ingredients.  Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased.  Instead, consumers with allergies are urged to dispose of the product and contact Zatarain’s  for a replacement or full refund.
