Specialty Commodities, a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland, is recalling a specific lot of dry roasted almonds because they may contain undeclared cashews. Anyone who is allergic to cashews could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.
The recalled product is dry roasted almonds shipped in 25 pound cartons, marked with lot number 1050188-1-16007 on the side of the cartons. They were shipped to distributors in six locations in Arizona, California, and Colorado, then further distributed to other companies for further processing and packaging. The recalled dry roasted almonds were distributed between January 26, 2016 and February 16, 2016.
The problem was caused by a temporary process breakdown by a third-party contract manufacturer. The almonds were inadvertently mixed with cashews before being forward to customers. The customers who received the recalled product have been notified. These almonds were not distributed directly to consumers for sale in retail outlets.
