Ashby’s Sterling Recalls Ice Cream for Possible Listeria

House of Flavors is recalling a limited portion of its Ashby’s Sterling Peanut Butter Landslide Ice Cream for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This product was made with peanut butter cookie dough from Aspen Hills, which expanded its recall. No reports of illness have been received to date.

Listeria Recall

The recalled product is Ashby’s Sterling Peanut Butter Landslide ice Cream in 3 gallon containers. The item number is 7305 and the lot number is 16195. It was sold to distributors and ice cream shops nationwide.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Distributors and ice cream shops with this product should throw it away. Take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund. Then clean out your freezer with a mild bleach solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water, since freezing doesn’t kill Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

If you ate any of these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms may be similar to the flu, or may include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
