Asher’s Chocolate Recalls Candy for Possible Salmonella

Asher’s Chocolates/Lewiston, Inc., an affiliated partner of Chester A. Asher Inc., is recalling many different types of chocolate candies for possible Salmonella contamination. The products were made in the company’s Lewiston, Pennsylvania facility. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products. In addition, no products manufactured by C.A. Asher Inc./Asher’s Chocolate of Souderton, Pennsylvania are involved in this recall.

The candies were distributed nationwide in retail stores. A single sample from routine testing found the bacteria in a group of products. You can see the long list of recalled products, along with UPC numbers, lot numbers, and package sizes, at the FDA web site. They include Milk Chocolate Pretzel Pieces, Keystone Crunch, Dark Chocolate Mini Pretzels, Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Heaven, Dark Chocolate Hostess Mint, Milk Chocolate Potato Chip, White Confectionery Coated Mini Pretzels, and Milk Chocolate Pretzel Rods, among others. No other production codes other than the ones stated are involved in the recall.

If you purchased any of the recalled products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
