Bounce Balls Recalled for Possible Listeria Monocytogenes

Bounce USA is recalling Bounce Apple Cinnamon Energy Balls because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The company’s supplier, SunOpta, has recalled sunflower seeds used to make the product. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The Bounce Apple Cinnamon Protein Punch Energy Balls (newly named Appel Cinnamon Protein Energy Balls) have been sold through Amazon.com between November 4, 2015 and June 6, 2016. The two products recalled are Bounce 1.48 (42 gram) Apple Apple Cinnamon Protein Punch Energy Balls. The Product UPC numbers are 852949003723 for the individual packs and 852949003730  for the 12-unit boxes. The Best Before Dates are 04SEP16 and 12NOV16. Also recalled are Bounce 42g Apple Cinnamon Protein Energy Balls, with Best Before Dates: 23 DEC16, 10 JAN17, 22 FEB17, 31MAR17. The Product UPC numbers are 852949003723 for the individual packs and 852949003730 for the 12-unit boxes.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged container, or return them to the store where you bought them for a refund. Then clean out the pantry, cupboard, or wherever you stored this product with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling this product.

If you ate any of these recalled products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, nausea, diarrhea, muscle aches, and abdominal pains. If you do feel ill, please see your doctor.
