Cedar Crest Recalls Ice Cream for Possible Listeria

Cedar Crest is recalling three varieties of its ice cream for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This ice cream was made by cookie dough made by Aspen Hills Inc. This is the sixth secondary recall of products made with that recalled cookie dough. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Cedar Crest Ice Cream Listeria Recall

The recalled products are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in pints, 48 ounce packages, and 3 gallon containers. Production codes are 3826, 3846, 4346, and 4326. Also recalled is Monster Cookie in 3 gallon containers with production code 3826, and Pirate’s Bounty in 48 ounce packages with production code 4346. These products were sold at the retail level in the Midwest.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund. Then clean out your freezer with a mild bleach solution, since freezing doesn’t kill Listeria.

If you ate any of these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
