Chicharrones Recalls Pork Lard for Undeclared Allergens

Chicharrones J&J of California is recalling about 2,064 pounds of pork lard products for misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The products contain milk, one of the major food allergens, and sodium nitrate that are not declared on the label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

The products are 1 pound, 2 pound, and 3 pound plastic tubs of “Chicharrones J&J Rendered Animal Fat.” The products have the establishment number “EST. 31638” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations in California. The products were made on various dates from June 16, 2016 through October 12, 2016.

If you purchased these products and are allergic to milk or can’t or don’t want to consume sodium nitrate, do not eat them. Discard them or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
