Dark Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans Recalled for Almonds

Lipari Foods is voluntarily recalling dark chocolate covered coffee beans packaged by sister company JLM because the product may contain almonds (tree nuts), one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to almonds could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. The products are safe to eat by those who are not allergic to or sensitive to almonds. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date.

Dark Chocolate Coffee Beans RecallThe recalled products were distributed under these brand names: Angeli Foods, Harding’s Markets, Goosberries Fresh Food Market, Martha’s Vineyard, Hollywood Market, Daniels Foods, Snook’s Butcher Shoppe, Martin’s, Holiday Market, The Purple Onion, Remke Market or as generic product without branding. They include these products: Dark Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans (Angeli Foods, Harding’s Markets, Goosberries Fresh Food Market, Martha’s Vineyard, Hollywood Market, Daniels Foods, Snook’s Butcher Shoppe, Martin’s, Holiday Market, The Purple Onion, Remke Market) with Lipari product number 510526, lot number 22201512, in 12 ounce tubs. The best by date is 12/21/16 and the UPC number is 094776131761. Also recalled are Dark Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans (generic) with Lipari product number 477308, lot number 22201512, in 12 ounce tubs. The best by date on that product is 12/21/16 and the UPC number is 094776131761. You can see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site. They were sold in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Dark chocolate almonds were unintentionally mixed in with the dark chocolate covered coffee beans during packaging of private label products. If you purchased these products and are allergic to almonds, or tree nuts, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
