Evie’s Cheddar Potato Salad Recalled for Possible Listeria

Hearn Kirkwood is voluntarily recalling Evie’s Cheddar Potato Salad sold through Amazon Fresh in the Bellevue, Washington area for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of this recalled product, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take months to manifest.

The recalled product is Evie’s Cheddar Potato Macaroni Salad sold in 6.0 ounce clear plastic containers. The UPC number is 6637511772 and the “use by” dates are 04/15/16 to 06/20/16. It was sold between April 8, 2016 and June 13, 2016. The frozen green peas from National Frozen Foods used in this product were recalled for possible Listeria contamination.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container so other people or animals can’t eat it, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. The use-by dates for this product are in the past, but some people may have the product stored in their freezer. And anyone who has been experiencing the symptoms of listeriosis may have eaten this salad.

Then clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria can grow at refrigerator temperatures and freezing does not kill it. If you ate any of this product, monitor yourself for the symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food poisoning for the next 70 days.

The symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other flu-like symptoms. If you ate this product and have been experiencing these symptoms, please see your doctor as soon as possible.
