First source of New York is recalling more items because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These items were made with sunflower seeds that have been recalled. Illnesses caused by this bacteria can take up to 70 days to appear.
You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site. They include brand names of Alpine Valley, Earth Fare, Flave, Gonzo 2 Go, Foodhold USA, SSP Fitness, Stewarts, Tops, and Wegmans. The recalled products include fitness mix, cranberry delite, roasted sunflower kernels, trail mix, yogurt trail mix, and oriental snack mix, among others. They were sold in retail stores in Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and South Carolina between 6/4/2015 and 5/31/2016.
If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean out the area where you stored them with a solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water. Wash your hands well to kill any remaining bacteria.
If you ate any of these products, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck and muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If you do get ill, especially if you are in a high risk group or are pregnant, see your doctor.
