Frigidaire and Kenmore Wall Ovens Recalled for Possible Fire Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling Frigidaire and Kenmore wall ovens by Electrolux because they pose a fire hazard. The thermal switch on the ovens can malfunction because of improper manufacturing, causing a fire. No accidents or injuries have been reported to date.

About 1,000 units are recalled. They are Frigidaire and Kenmore brand electric single and double wall ovens sold in black, white, or stainless steel. The single ovens are 24″ wide, 32″ tall and 25″ deep. The double ovens are 24″ wide, 51″ tall and 25″ deep. The product is 24″ Electric Manual and Self Cleaning Wall Ovens. The Frigidaire model numbers are FFEW2415QWA with serial number AF61206467, and FFEW2425QSA with serial number AF61205416. The Kenmore model numbers are 790.40253410 with serial numbers AF60908622  through AF61207264; 790.40259410 with serial numbers AF61106873 through  AF61106888; 790.40279410 with serial numbers AF61107422 through  AF61107457; 790.40282410 with serial numbers AF61301902 and AF61301928; 790.40283410 with serial numbers AF61106898 through  AF61208367; and 790.40289410 with serial numbers AF61200994 through  AF61208403.

The Frigidaire ovens were sold by Knie Appliance & TV in Illinois from March 2016 through April 2016 for between $1,000 and $1,400. The Kenmore ovens were sold exclusively at Sears stores nationwide and online from March 2016 through April 2016 for between $1,400 and $2,100.

If you have one of these ovens, stop using it immediately and contact Electrolux or Sears to schedule a free inspection and repair. The company is contacting all known purchasers directly.
