Gaiser’s Bologna Recalled for Undeclared Milk, Lack of Inspection

Gaiser’s European Style Provisions of New Jersey is recalling 3,895 pounds of chicken and pork bologna products because they contain milk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label, and were made with meat and poultry that was not federally inspected. No reports of illness or adverse reactions have been received to date.

The recalled products were shipped to retail locations and to institutions in California, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Washington. They have the establishment number “EST. 5385” or “P-5385” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were produced from October 6, 206 to October 20, 2016.

Important Notice Recall

The recalled products are 1 pound chubb artificial casing containing “Gaiser’s RUSSIAN BRAND PROFESSORSKAYA BOLOGNA” pork bologna with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016; 10 pound chubb artificial casing containing “Gaiser’s PROFESSORSKAYA” pork bologna with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016; and 1 pound chubb artificial casing containing “NetCost Market PROFESSORSKAYA BRAND BOLOGNA” with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016. Also recalled are 1 pound chubb artificial casing containing “Gaiser’s CHICKEN BOLOGNA” with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016; 3 pound chubb artificial casing containing “Gaiser’s CHICKEN BOLOGNA” with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016; and 1 pound chubb artificial casing containing “NetCost Market CHICKEN BOLOGNA” with various packaging dates from October 10, 2016 to October 21, 2016.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund. People who are allergic to milk or are lactose intolerant should not eat these products for health reasons, but neither should anyone else, since they were made with products that were not inspected for safety.
