Green Bean Casserole Product Recalled for Undeclared Allergen

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that Farm To Market Foods, based in Santo, Texas, had just recalled 26,506 pounds of its Green Bean Casserole product because it may contain undeclared peanuts. This recall was prompted after a secondary supplier alerted Farm To Market Foods that an ingredient used to make the casserole, Schreiber Foods International, Inc.’s Ambrosia Brand Worcestershire Sauce, has been recalled due to the possibility it contained undeclared peanut allergens.

Ingesting peanuts can be deadly for people who are sensitive or allergic to them. Even in minute amounts, the peanut allergens can trigger life-threatening allergic reactions and / or anaphylactic shock.

Food To Market Foods (also known as Texas Best Protein) distributed the Green Bean Casserole product to the Brookshire’s chain of retail grocery stores in Texas. It was packaged and sold in 32-ounce plastic black retail trays with clear lids labelled with the “Farm to Market Foods” logo, as well as being included in the Holiday Smoked Turkey and Ham Dinner Kits sold by Brookshire’s retail deli departments. It was also sold in bulk “to go” containers at these deli departments; “to go” containers affected by the recall are marked with purchase dates after November 7, 2016.

The 32-ounce black trays of the casserole are labeled with these expiration dates: 01/05/2017, 01/06/2017, 01/08/2017, 01/15/2017, 01/17/2017, 01/26/2017, 01/30/2017, and 02/17/2017. These packages should either be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.Green Bean Casserole recall
