HEB Tartar Sauce Recalled for Undeclared Anchovies

Fresh Creative Foods is recalling H-E-B Tartar Sauce because it contains anchovies, or fish, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone who is allergic to fish could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is H-E-B Tartar Sauce in 8 ounce clear plastic tubs. The problem is that the food in the tubs is Cocktail Sauce, which contains anchovies. The affected product would have been purchased from an H-E-B Seafood Department with a ” use by date” of 04/19/2016 on the bottom and UPC number 41220 33244 on the side. This product was sold in H-E-B stores in Texas.  The problem was discovered during routine restocking.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to fish, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
