Hickory Harvest Recalls Sunflower Seeds for Listeria

Hickory Harvest is recalling sunflower seeds for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Its supplier, SunOpta, is recalling products. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

Heinens Sunflower Listeria RecallThe products were packaged at or shipped from Hickory Harvest between February 15, 2016 and May 2, 2016. They were shipped to: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming.

You can see the product names, package sizes, UPC numbers, and best by dates at the FDA web site. The brand names are Hickory Harvest, IM Good, Sheetz, Raylicious, Liberty, Heinens, and Amish Farms. You can see pictures of the recalled products at the FDA web site as well. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard them in a sealed container or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

If you ate any of these sunflower seeds, watch yourself for listeriosis during the next 70 days. Those symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, and stiff neck. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
