Honey Bunchies Gourmet Honey Bar Recalled for Possible Listeria

Honey Bunchie is recalling a limited number of gourmet Honey Bars for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The product contains sunflower kernels from SunOpta. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Important Notice Recall

The products were distributed nationwide directly from Honey Bunchie, LLC to distributors, retailers, and online between August 5, 2015 through March 15, 2016.  The product is Honey Bunchies Gourmet Honey Bar. It was sold as 1.9 ounce individual bars, with UPC number 8 66192 00010 1 and best by dates of 12/27/2015 – 10/28/2016. The product was also sold in boxes of 20 1.9 ounce bars, with UPC number 8 66192 00011 8 and best by dates of 12/27/2015 – 10/28/2016.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container or return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund Then wash your pantry or cupboards with a solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing doesn’t kill it.

If you ate any of these recalled bars, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, neck stiffness, muscle aches, severe headache, flu-like symptoms, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If you do feel ill, especially if you are pregnant, elderly, or have a weakened immune system or chronic illness, see your doctor.
