Kayem Recalls Chicken Sausage for Misbranding

al-fresco-chicken-sausage-recallKayem Foods Inc. of  Chelsea, Mass. is recalling approximately 22,182 pounds of chicken sausage products due to misbranding. The products have pork casings which are not declared on the label. Consumers who cannnot eat pork should not eat these products.

The recalled chicken sausage items, which were produced on Nov. 4, 2015, were distributed nationwid. They are packed in 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages labeled “al fresco SWEET APPLE CHICKEN SAUSAGE” with the code “308 BW12 USE/FRZ BY FEB 7, 2016.” The establishment number “EST. P-7839” appears inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered by consumers who noticed the product label listed nutritional information for a different product, “al fresco Apple Maple Breakfast” sausages.

At the time of the recall, there were no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.
