Kellogg Recalls Eggo Nutri-Grain WW Waffles for Possible Listeria

The Kellogg Company has voluntarily recalled about 10,000 cases of Kellogg’s® Eggo® Nutri-Grain® Whole Wheat Waffles because they may be contamianted with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported to date, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to appear.

The recalled product was shipped to retailers in 25 states. They are: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and New York.

Kelloggs Waffles Listeria Monocytogenes Recall

The recalled product is Kellogg’s® Eggo® Nutri-Grain® Whole Wheat Waffles in 12.3 ounce packages, with 10 waffles per package. The UPC number is 38000 40370 and the better if used before dates are NOV21 17 and NOV22 17.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Then wash your hands well after handling the product. Clean out your freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria, since freezing does not destroy Listeria monocytogenes.

If you ate this recalled product, even if it was thoroughly reheated, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant woman may only have a mild flu-like illness, but listeriosis can cause miscarriage and stillbirth. If you do get sick, see your doctor and tell him you ate this recalled product.
