Lemongrass Basil Chicken Recalled for Listeria

Winter Gardens Quality Foods Inc. of New Oxford, Pa. has issued a recall for approximately 42 pounds of Lifestyle Foods Inc. brand Lemongrass Basil Chicken entrées for possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as Listeria can cause serious illness and death.

The recalled product was produced on June 13 and June 14, 2016 and shipped to distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C.

 It was sold in in 8.0-oz. (227g) individually wrapped entrée packages labeled “Lifestyle Foods Lemongrass Basil Chicken Entrée – Brown Rice in a Thai Style Sauce with Grilled Chicken and Green Beans” with“Enjoy By” dates of June 28, 2016 and June 29, 2016. The establishment number “P-9815” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

At the time of the recall there had been no confirmed reports of illness or adverse reactions, according to the company. However, Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Those most at risk are older adults, people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and their newborns.
