Marshmallows and Nougat Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and La Nougaterie are recalling several types of nougats and marshmallows because they contain undeclared wheat, sesame seeds, milk, soy, and sulphites. All of these ingredients are potential allergens, and anyone who is allergic to them could have a serious reaction if they eat these candies. No reported reactions have been received associated with the consumption of these products. The candies are being recalled for different combinations of these allergens.

La Nougaterie Candy Allergens RecallThe products are all La Nougaterie Quebec brand. The candies recalled for undeclared wheat, sesame, milk, soy, and sulphites are Homemade Marshmallows – Fruit Flavors in 200 gram packages with UPC number 6 27843 03542 8, Marshmallow Bites – Assorted Flavors in 150 gram packages with no UPC number, and Nougat Bites – Maple & Hazelnut in 125 gram packages with no UPC number. The candies recalled for undeclared milk are Soft Nougat – Fleur De Sel Caramel in 100 gram packages with UPC number 8 14208 00124 6, and Fleur De Sel Caramel in 125 gram packages with no UPC number. The candies recalled for undeclared wheat and sulphites are Nougat Bites – Assorted Flavors in 125 gram packages with no UPC number, Soft Nougat – Candied Lemon in 100 gram packages with UPC number 8 14208 00123 9, and Soft Nougat – Candied Orange in 100 gram packages with UPC number 6 27843 03542 8. They were sold in Ontario and Quebec at the retail level.

If you purchased these candies and are allergic to wheat, sesame seeds, milk, soy, and/or sulphites, do not eat them. Discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can see pictures of product labels at the CFIA web site.
