Meal Breaks Items Recalled for Possible Listeria Contamination

ES Foods of New York is recalling 3700 cases of Meal Breaks items that contain individually packaged Sunrich Natural Sunflower Kernels because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.

You can see the long list of recalled items, along with the lot number, item number, product pictures, and best used by date at the FDA web site. The products include Cheese Stick, Chips & Dip, Lime Bean Dippers, Cheese Cup, Frosted Flakes w/Cheese Stick, Cinnamon Pop Tarts, PBJ w/Milk, Tuna Salad w/Milk, and BBQ Chicken w/Milk.  They were distributed in California, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin to foodservice distributors, food banks, and school meal programs between April 21 and May 13, 2016.

The symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, include high fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, abdominal pain, flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, and nausea. If you ate any of these recalled products and have experienced these symptoms, please see your doctor.
