Michael Angelo’s Recalls Shrimp Scampi for Undeclared Allergens

Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods of Texas is recalling 4,225 pounds of frozen shrimp scampi products because they may contain chicken, egg, and soy. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No reactions have been reported to date.

The recalled product is 26 ounce boxes with plastic trays containing “Michael Angelo’s Uncompromisingly Italian-Style Shrimp Scampi with Linguini Pasta in a Fresh Heirloom Garlic-Butter Sauce.” The packaging date is May 7, 2016, and the “Best if Used By” date is May 7, 2017. The UPC number of the product isĀ 0 37363 98377 0.

Due to a packaging error, products are labeled as the Shrimp Scampi, but the packages may contain a chicken piccata product. The products subject to recall do not have the USDA mark of inspection, since shrimp products are inspected by the FDA. The products were shipped to distributors in the southeastern U.S.

If you purchased this product and do not eat chicken, or are allergic to egg and/or soy, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
