National Frozen Foods Listeria Recall for Frozen Vegetables

Listeria recallNational Frozen Foods Corporation has issued a recall for frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products were sold under the names Bountiful Harvest, First Street, Great Value, Live Smart, Market Pantry and Sprouts at retail stores nationwide between September 2, 2015 and June 2, 2016.

Consumers who have purchased these brands of frozen vegetables should check recall information carefully for affected product codes. Anyone who has purchased the recalled vegetables should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

Consumers who have already eaten products under recall should monitor themselves for symptoms for the next 70 days. Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Anyone who has eaten a recalled product and develops these symptoms should she a doctor and mention exposure to Listeria.
