Natural Directions Recalls Frozen Vegetables for Listeria

NORPAC Foods of Oregon is voluntarily recalling Natural Directions frozen vegetables because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. they contain vegetables purchased from CRF Frozen Foods and are part of that company’s recall. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these particular products, although there is a listeriosis outbreak linked to CRF Frozen Foods.

Recall chalkboardThe recalled products are Natural Directions Organic Mixed Vegetables in 12 ounce packages, with UPC number 0-15400-19672-7. The use by/sell by dates are 06 2017 / MFG 06 16 2015 with code 5J5 16X8 HH:MM; USE BY 02 2018 / MFG 02 16 2016 with code 5F6 16X8 HH:MM; and USE BY 04 2018 / MFG 04 19 2016 with code 5H6 19X8 HH:MM.

Also recalled is Natural Directions Organic Green Peas in 12 ounce packages. The UPC number is 0-15400-19670-3. The use by/sell by dates are USE BY 03 2018 / MFG 03 21 2016 with code 5G6 21X8 HH:MM; USE BY 04 2018 / MFG 04 11 2016 with code 5H6 11X8 HH:MM; and USE BY 04 2018 / MFG 04 12 2016 with code 5H6 12X8 HH:MM. These products may have been sold in the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and in Guam.

If you purchased either of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. Then wash out your refrigerator and/or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures and freezing does not kill it.

If you ate any of these products, even if they were cooked, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include fever, headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, nausea, abdominal pains, and diarrhea. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
