Nuts About Berries Paleo Bars Recalled for Listeria

NoGii is recalling its Nuts About Berries Paleo Bars because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No reports of illness have been received to date, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to appear.

The Nuts About Berries Paleo Bar has sunflower seeds recalled by SunOpta, the company’s supplier. The recalled Nuts About Berries Paleo Bar has the lot number B.B 03APR17 F3 3375, which is on the packaging on the back side of the flap above the nutritional facts. It may have been sold as a single 1.4 ounce (42 g) bar with UPC number 856513002259 or in a pack of 9 with UPC number 856513002273. It was distributed nationwide in the U.S. through retail stores and online websites.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it for a refund. Then clean out your drawers or wherever you stored this product with a solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon warm water to kill any remaining bacteria. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling the product and cleaning.

If you ate any of these bars, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If you do get sick, see your doctor and tell her you ate this recalled product.
