Organic Pastures Recalls Raw Milk

Organic Pastures, the dairy in California that has been at the center of recalls before, is recalling raw milk produced at their facility. They state that this is not a state-mandated recall, but is being conducted “in abundance of caution.” There is no word on whether or not any illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these products, or why the product is being recalled.

The milk “may have been released” to the northern and central coast areas of California, and were not sold in southern California, according to the press release.

Organic Pastures raw milk was recalled in October 2015 after California inspectors discovered Campylobacter at the facility. Campylobacter was also found at the farm in September 2012, which led to a recall and quarantine. In January 2012, Organic Pastures products were linked to a Campylobacter outbreak that sickened at least 10 people in California. And in August 2011, Organic Pastures products were linked to an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak that sickened five young children in California. Inspections by public health officials found the outbreak strain of E. coli O157:H7 bacteria in environmental samples collected at Organic Pastures.
