Oriental Packing Recalls More Curry Powder for Lead

Oriental Packing Company of Florida is recalling more curry powder products for lead. The company recalled curry powder for lead content earlier this year. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Recall

Lead is a heavy metal and can cause serious and permanent damage to the body. While the FDA has not set a limit on lead in spices, there is a limit of 0.1 ppm in candy.

The product was sold in retail stores in Florida and Jamaica. It has a label bearing these names on plastic bottles and paper bags: ORIENTAL Hot Curry Powder 50 lb. Bulk, OCHO-RIOS Jamaican Nice Mild and Spicy Hot Curry Powder 4oz; and OCHO-RIOS Mild Curry Powder 5 lb. The package sizes are 4 ounce, 5 pound, and 50 pound bulk. The products also have BEST BEFORE: 9/19/19 through 9/21/19 and Lot numbers 091316A and 091316B.

If you purchased any of these products, do not consume it. Throw it away in a sealed container or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
