Oven Mitts Recalled for Burn Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling Marvel Thanos Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitts because they do not have thermal protection, making them a burn hazard. The firm has received 241 reports of burn injuries when using the mitts, including reports of the glove melting and burning consumers’ skin.

About 360,000 of the gloves were sold in the United States. About 15,000 were sold in Canada, and about 380 were sold in Mexico. Consumers should immediately stop using the oven mitts, destroy them, and contact Loot Crate to receive a replacement product.

The Marvel Thanos Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitts were sold exclusively at Loot Crate’s website, as an item included in their May 2016 subscription “Power”-theme box. That subscription was available from April through May 2016 for about $20.

The gloves were manufactured in China. The oven mitt’s outer shell is 100% polyester in a golden yellow color with blue, purple, green, red, and black accents. The Marvel logo is on the upper center part of the oven mitt. The product has UPC numberĀ 15129322 printed on the care label on the inside seams of the oven mitts.
