Paradise Valley Market Recalls Ground Beef for Possible E. coli

The Paradise Valley market in Chula Vista, California is recalling about 35 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The products were made and sold only on September 1, 2016. There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the consumption of these products. The market is located at 870 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista.

The recalled products include 20 pounds of 15% lean ground beef. This product was packaged to order and sold at the Carnival Supermarket meat counter in reddish plastic bags with a tied knot at the top. The second recalled product is 15 pounds of 7% extra lean ground beef. The product was also packaged to order and sold at the Carnival Supermarket meat counter in reddish plastic bags with a tied knot at the top.

While the expiration date for using the ground beef has passed, the government is concerned that the product may be in consumers’ freezers. If you purchased either of these products, do not eat them, even if you plan to cook them. Throw it away in a double bagged package or take it back to the store for a full refund. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling the ground beef packages.
