Pictsweet Recalls Frozen Vegetables for Listeria

Pictsweet is recalling more frozen vegetable products for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This is the third Listeria monocytogenes recall notice for this particular company. This time the recall is for Pictsweet Steam’ables and regular frozen vegetables.

PictSweet Green Beans Listeria RecallYou can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site, along with the many “best if used by” dates, package size, and UPC number. Please look at this list carefully to see if you have purchased any of these recalled items.

The items include Steam’ables Cut Green Beans, Cut Green Beans in various sizes, Steam’ables Green Peas, Green Peas in various size packages, Steam’ables Mixed Vegetables, Mixed Vegetables in various sizes, Peas and Carrots, Summer Blend, and Summer Vegetables with Cracked Pepper Seasoning. If you purchased these products, discard them in a sealed container or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Wash your hands well after handling these products. Clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures and freezing does not kill it. I

f you ate any of these recalled products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If you do get sick, especially if you are pregnant or in a high risk group, see your doctor.
