Pictsweet Recalls More Kroger Veggies for Listeria

The Pictsweet Company is notifying consumers that some Kroger brand frozen vegetables are being recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This recall is in addition to the May 6, 2016 recall for Kroger frozen vegetables sold in Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Smith’s, QFC, and Fred Meyer. What’s confusing is that we couldn’t find an earlier recall of Pictsweet produce for Listeria on May 6, 2016. There was a recall of Pictsweet products for Listeria on April 14, 2016, however.

Kroger Cut Green Beans Listeria RecallOn May 5, 2016, CRF Frozen Foods informed Pictsweet they were recalling all lots of Green Beans and Green Peas supplied to Pictsweet. The recalled products are sold under the Kroger label or the Kroger P$$T label and all include the letter “K” as the fifth digit of the manufacturing code. Products sold in Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Smith’s, QFC, and Fred Meyer are subject to this recall.

You can see the long list of recalled products, along with the UPC numbers, package sizes, “best if used by” dates at the FDA web site. The products include mixed vegetables, cut green beans, green peas, peas and carrots, vegetable soup mix, P$$T mixed vegetables, and P$$T green peas.

If you purchased any of these items, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them for a full refund. Clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria, and wash your hands well after handling these products.

All our vegies are labeled from Trader Joe’s. Are any of these vegetables affected by this recall.
